Why this quality rating

Tunisia has a reasonably structured public school system by North African standards, with Arabic and French as instruction languages. Quality varies significantly by region. International schools in Tunis serve expatriate families.

Why the expat-access rating looks like this

Enrollment is technically open to resident families, but the Arabic-first (with French) instruction model typically pushes international families toward private or international schools.

๐Ÿ“‹ Homeschooling

Legal with school enrollment

Tunisia allows "individual education" with registration at the Ministry of Education. Students must take official exams at a recognized school. No mandatory curriculum at home but must meet exam standards. Growing digital nomad scene in Tunis.

Healthcare

System strength, outcome signals, facility coverage, and self-pay visibility in Tunisia.

Method: country metrics come from public system indicators, facility coverage reflects mapped providers we can inventory, direct pricing only reflects observed self-pay pages, and relative care cost can fall back to broad cost-of-living healthcare indices. Sparse pricing does not imply sparse healthcare availability.

About El Mourouj

El Mourouj is a planned residential city in Ben Arous Governorate, Tunisia, with about 104,538 residents, sitting in the southern suburbs of Tunis. It was developed from the 1980s onward as a series of numbered residential sectors to absorb middle-class housing demand from the capital, and now functions as a dense dormitory suburb connected to central Tunis via the TGM and SNCFT suburban rail lines and the A1 motorway. The local economy is largely commuter-driven, with most workers employed in Tunis. Arabic and French are both widely used, with Tunisian Arabic the everyday spoken language. The climate is Mediterranean with hot dry summers and mild wet winters. Relocation here is overwhelmingly domestic Tunisian, drawn by lower rents than central Tunis.
