Why this quality rating

Uganda's public schools can work for local families, but they are not usually the route expat families choose when they have alternatives.

Why the expat-access rating looks like this

Resident families may be able to enroll, but classroom conditions and uneven quality make the public route a situational expat choice.

โ“ Homeschooling

Not specifically regulated

Uganda has compulsory education but no specific homeschooling legislation. Some expat families and missionary families homeschool without interference. No formal framework exists.

Healthcare

Method: country metrics come from public system indicators, facility coverage reflects mapped providers we can inventory, direct pricing only reflects observed self-pay pages, and relative care cost can fall back to broad cost-of-living healthcare indices. Sparse pricing does not imply sparse healthcare availability.

About Bunamwaya

Bunamwaya is a peri-urban suburb of Kampala, Uganda, situated on the Entebbe Road corridor southwest of the capital and absorbing much of Greater Kampala's middle-class residential growth. It is not an independent economic center; rather, it functions as a commuter zone serving Kampala's services, government, and NGO economy, with proximity to Entebbe International Airport as a major draw. Relocators should weigh affordable housing relative to central Kampala and a comfortable equatorial climate moderated by altitude against heavy traffic on the single arterial road, intermittent power, and reliance on private boreholes and generators. English is the working language and widely spoken. Best suited to expatriates working in development, diplomacy, or aviation who want a quieter base outside central Kampala.
