Why this quality rating
Nepal's public-school system can work for locally integrated families, but classroom quality and resources vary sharply and most expat households looking for predictability still lean private or international.
Why the expat-access rating looks like this
Resident enrollment can be possible, but Nepali-medium instruction and uneven school conditions make the public route a difficult match for most relocating families.
❓ Homeschooling
Not specifically addressedNepal does not have specific homeschooling regulations. Education is compulsory but alternatives are not well-defined. Some expat families homeschool in Kathmandu.

About Hetauda
Hetauda sits in Bagmati Province in central Nepal, in the inner Terai plain at the foot of the Mahabharat Range with roughly 195,951 residents. The city anchors one of Nepal's main industrial districts, with cement production at the Hetauda Cement Industries, brewing, and other manufacturing tied to the East-West Highway corridor that runs through the city. The Bagmati Province government designated Hetauda as the provincial capital in 2018. For relocation purposes Hetauda is a Nepali industrial provincial capital rather than an expat destination: Nepali is the working language with limited English use outside specific NGO and tourism contexts, the climate is subtropical with hot summers and mild winters in the lowland setting, and Kathmandu roughly 130 kilometers north handles all international logistics.
