Why this quality rating
Nepal's public-school system can work for locally integrated families, but classroom quality and resources vary sharply and most expat households looking for predictability still lean private or international.
Why the expat-access rating looks like this
Resident enrollment can be possible, but Nepali-medium instruction and uneven school conditions make the public route a difficult match for most relocating families.
❓ Homeschooling
Not specifically addressedNepal does not have specific homeschooling regulations. Education is compulsory but alternatives are not well-defined. Some expat families homeschool in Kathmandu.

About Birgañj
Birganj sits on the Indian border in southern Nepal, in Parsa District of Madhesh Province, and is the principal land trade crossing between Nepal and India. The city is Nepal's largest dry port and customs gateway, handling the majority of containerized freight moving between the country and the Indian rail network at Raxaul, and hosts the main industrial estate of the surrounding Tarai plain with cement, sugar, and textile production. Nepali, Bhojpuri, Maithili, and Hindi are all in daily use reflecting the close cross-border ties. The flat tropical lowland climate gives very hot pre-monsoon months, a strong summer monsoon, and cool winters with morning fog. The road to Kathmandu via the Tribhuvan Highway takes roughly six hours through the hills.
