Why this quality rating
Iran's public system is structured for local families, but it is not an easy public-school choice for relocating expat households.
Why the expat-access rating looks like this
Even where resident enrollment is possible, Persian-medium instruction and day-to-day local integration make the public route usually impractical for foreign families.
🚫 Homeschooling
Homeschooling not permittedIran requires compulsory school attendance and does not permit homeschooling. Education is heavily regulated by the Ministry of Education with a mandatory national curriculum. No exemptions for homeschooling on philosophical or lifestyle grounds.

Healthcare
System strength, outcome signals, facility coverage, and self-pay visibility in Iran.
Method: country metrics come from public system indicators, facility coverage reflects mapped providers we can inventory, direct pricing only reflects observed self-pay pages, and relative care cost can fall back to broad cost-of-living healthcare indices. Sparse pricing does not imply sparse healthcare availability.

About Kerman
Kerman is the capital of Iran's Kerman province, a high-desert city of roughly 578,000 in the country's southeast at around 1,750 meters elevation, surrounded by some of Iran's most arid terrain including the Lut Desert (one of the hottest places ever measured on Earth) to the east. The economy combines copper mining and smelting (the Sarcheshmeh Copper Complex 50 kilometers south is one of the world's largest), pistachio cultivation across the surrounding plain (Iran's main pistachio-growing region), carpet weaving, and university employment. The climate is cold desert: hot, dry summers in the high 30s and cold winter nights regularly below freezing, with very low rainfall. Persian is essential. Relocators should weigh sanctions-related constraints on international banking, the de facto need to route flights through Tehran, water-supply pressures that have intensified across the region, and minimal Western expat infrastructure.
