About Sekondi-Takoradi

Sekondi-Takoradi is a twin coastal city in Ghana's Western Region, on the Gulf of Guinea about 220 kilometers west of Accra. Sekondi is the older administrative center, while Takoradi grew around the country's first deep-water harbor built in the 1920s. The metropolitan economy combines the Takoradi port (a key gateway for manganese, bauxite, cocoa and timber exports), the Naval Command, and the onshore base for Ghana's offshore oil and gas industry, with Tullow- and ENI-led production from the Jubilee and TEN fields anchoring an oil-services cluster. For foreign relocators, the energy and shipping sectors support a small but established expatriate community, complementing larger expat populations in Accra. Climate is tropical, hot year-round with two wet seasons and a relatively dry harmattan-influenced winter.
