About Changhua

Changhua is the seat of Changhua County in west-central Taiwan, located on the alluvial coastal plain immediately south of Taichung and within easy commuter range via the Taiwan Railway main line. The city sits at the foot of the Bagua Mountain, which hosts the well-known Great Buddha statue overlooking the plain, and its economy combines agriculture on surrounding fields, food processing, traditional metalworking and machine-tool production, and a growing role in Taiwan's offshore wind buildout off the Changhua coastline. The high-speed rail station southeast of the city brings Taipei within about an hour. Climate is humid subtropical with hot summers, mild winters, and typhoon exposure from July through September. Mandarin Chinese and Taiwanese Hokkien are both widely spoken. International access is via Taoyuan or Kaohsiung airports.
