About Yuanlin
Yuanlin is the largest urban centre in Changhua County on the central western coastal plain of Taiwan, about 50 km south of Taichung. Population sits near 125,000. The economy combines small-and-medium machinery and metalworking, food processing, and a long-established furniture cluster, all serving the dense Taichung-Changhua manufacturing belt. The Yuanlin TRA station and the proximity of the Changhua HSR station 15 km away put Taipei within 80 minutes by high-speed rail. Climate is humid subtropical with hot wet summers, mild winters, and a defined May-October typhoon and monsoon period. Mandarin and Taiwanese Hokkien are both widely used, and English is taught throughout the school system but used unevenly in daily life. Cost of living runs well below Taipei.
