About Chang-hua
Changhua is the capital of Changhua County in west-central Taiwan, set on the western coastal plain immediately south of Taichung and roughly 175 kilometers southwest of Taipei. The city is connected to the high-speed rail network through THSR Changhua station and to the conventional rail network through the historic Changhua front station, with a famously preserved roundhouse for steam locomotive turnaround. The local economy combines agriculture on the surrounding alluvial plain, food processing, machinery manufacturing, and offshore wind power infrastructure off the Changhua coast. Climate is humid subtropical with hot summers, mild winters, and a typhoon season from July through September. Mandarin Chinese and Taiwanese Hokkien are both widely used. International access is via Taoyuan or Kaohsiung airports, each roughly an hour to two by rail.
