About ‘Ibrī

Ibri is a city in the Al Dhahirah Governorate of northwestern Oman, with about 165,000 residents. It sits in an inland desert basin on the route between Muscat and the United Arab Emirates border at Buraimi, roughly 280 kilometers from each. The city has grown around oil and gas activity in the surrounding region, agricultural date and livestock production, and a major recent solar power project (Ibri II) that is among the largest renewable installations on the Arabian Peninsula. Arabic is the official language and English is common in business and within the expatriate workforce, which is sizable across Oman's energy and construction sectors. The climate is hot desert with summers regularly above 45°C and very low rainfall. For relocation, opportunities are almost entirely tied to energy, construction, or public-sector employer sponsorship.
