About Tete

Tete is the capital of Tete Province in northwestern Mozambique, set on the banks of the Zambezi River near the Cahora Bassa dam and the borders with Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Malawi. It is a provincial capital rather than the national one and functions as the country's coal-mining and energy hub: the Moatize coal basin and Cahora Bassa hydroelectric exports are the dominant economic drivers, supplemented by Zambezi-corridor trucking and rail. Portuguese is the official language, with Nyungwe and Sena widely spoken. The climate is hot semi-arid, regularly ranking among Africa's hottest cities, with searing dry-season temperatures and a single wet season from November to March. Relocation drivers are narrow and almost entirely employer-led through mining, energy, and logistics roles.
