Why this quality rating

Egypt's public-school system is not the route most internationally mobile families choose when they have private or international alternatives.

Why the expat-access rating looks like this

Resident access can exist, but Arabic-medium instruction, crowding, and uneven quality make the public route a hard sell for most expat families.

πŸ“‹ Homeschooling

Legal with MOE supervision

Egypt allows homeschooling under certain conditions with Ministry of Education oversight. Students must be enrolled in a school for official exams. The process is bureaucratic. Many expat families in Cairo use international schools instead. American and British school options are extensive.

About Al Mansurah

Al Mansurah is the capital of Egypt's Dakahlia Governorate, a Nile Delta city of roughly 622,000 located about 120 kilometers north of Cairo on the Damietta branch of the river. The local economy centers on cotton processing, food production from the surrounding agricultural belt, textiles, and Mansoura University, which is one of the larger public universities in the country and a major regional medical training center. The climate is hot Mediterranean with mild winters and hot, dry summers. Arabic is the working language and English is concentrated in academic and medical circles; Western expat infrastructure is minimal compared with Cairo or Alexandria. Relocators should weigh limited international flight access (routing through Cairo), persistent currency volatility against the dollar, and infrastructure that is more provincial than the capital.
