About Nazrēt

Nazret, officially renamed Adama, is one of Ethiopia's largest cities and the seat of the Oromia Region administration, sitting at roughly 1,700 meters elevation in the Awash River valley about 100 kilometers southeast of Addis Ababa. The city is the principal commercial node on the Addis Ababa-Djibouti freight corridor, with an economy built on logistics, agriculture and agro-processing in the surrounding Rift Valley, the Adama Industrial Park, and Adama Science and Technology University. Oromo and Amharic are the dominant working languages. Relocators get a mild subtropical highland climate, infrastructure that is among the better Tier 2 setups in Ethiopia including a stop on the Addis Ababa-Djibouti standard-gauge railway, and a security context shaped by recurring Oromia regional unrest that has periodically affected travel along the corridor.
