About Ottakring

Ottakring is the 16th district of Vienna, Austria, with about 104,627 residents, sitting on the western edge of the city where it meets the Vienna Woods. Historically a working-class district built around the Ottakringer Brauerei brewery (founded 1837 and still operating in the district), it has become one of the most demographically diverse parts of Vienna, with a large Turkish, Serbian, and Balkan-origin population concentrated around Brunnenmarkt, central Europe's largest open-air food market. German is the working language with high multilingual ambient use. The U3 metro line connects directly to central Vienna in about 15 minutes. Climate is humid continental with cold winters and warm summers. Relocation here is normal Vienna-resident inflow rather than expat-targeted, with rents below the inner districts.
