About Gweru
Gweru is the capital of the Midlands Province in central Zimbabwe, located on the country's main rail and highway corridor between Harare and Bulawayo at roughly 1,420 meters on the Highveld plateau. The city's economy has historically been built on steel making at the nearby Zimbabwe Iron and Steel Company in Redcliff, ferrochrome and gold mining in the surrounding Great Dyke, and as a regional services hub. Midlands State University and a major military airbase also anchor employment. The climate is subtropical highland with mild winters and a single rainy season from November to March. For relocation, Gweru mainly suits Zimbabweans tied to mining, education, or the army; foreign movers concentrate in Harare and Bulawayo and are constrained by the country's currency and macroeconomic instability.
