Why this quality rating
Turkey's public schools can work for local families, but expat fit is weaker and the public path is not usually the obvious choice when alternatives exist.
Why the expat-access rating looks like this
Resident enrollment is possible, but Turkish-medium instruction and uneven school quality make the public route hard for most foreign families.
🚫 Homeschooling
Homeschooling not legalTurkey requires compulsory school attendance. Homeschooling is not permitted under current law. Foreign residents are technically subject to the same rules, though enforcement varies for non-citizens.

Getting Around
The concrete mobility picture for Alanya: airport access, urban transit, and rideshare practicality.
Airport
Major leisure airport
Antalya Airport gives the city unusually strong seasonal and leisure-focused international coverage for a non-capital Turkish city.
Urban transit
Tram and bus
Antalya has more structure than a pure resort shuttle market thanks to the tram line and city buses, even though many family trips remain road-led.
Rideshare
Taxi-first, app-hailed rides
Taxi apps and arranged rides are practical for airport trips and resort-area travel, but the city is not a mass-market open-rideshare market.

About Alanya
Alanya sits on the Turkish Riviera coast of Antalya Province in southern Turkey, roughly 130 kilometers east of Antalya city along the Mediterranean. It is a major tourism destination with an economy built on beach tourism, resort hotels, and a significant year-round foreign-resident population, particularly Russian, German, Scandinavian, and more recently Kazakh and Iranian retirees and remote workers. The climate is hot-summer Mediterranean with very hot dry summers and mild winters that draw the snowbird segment. Turkish is the working language with Russian, German, and English widely used in tourism and real estate. Alanya is one of the more established foreign-resident destinations in Turkey, with substantial infrastructure of foreign-language clinics, schools, and property-management services tied to the long-stay market.
