Why this quality rating

Saudi public schools are Arabic-medium and limited to Saudi nationals and other Arabs in some contexts. Riyadh, Jeddah, and Khobar have large international school sectors serving the substantial expat population.

Why the expat-access rating looks like this

Public schools are reserved for Saudi nationals. Expat families rely heavily on international schools, which are abundant in major cities.

πŸ“‹ Homeschooling

Legal with approval

Saudi Arabia allows homeschooling with approval from the Ministry of Education. Typically granted for medical or distance reasons. Growing acceptance but still relatively uncommon.

About Tabuk

Tabuk is the capital of Tabuk Province in northwestern Saudi Arabia, sitting at roughly 770 meters elevation in a desert basin about 250 kilometers south of the Jordanian border, and serves as the regional anchor for the Vision 2030 megaprojects including NEOM and the Red Sea developments further west. The local economy combines a long-established Royal Saudi Air Force base, increasingly the construction and engineering supply chain for NEOM, and agricultural production unusual for the Arabian Peninsula thanks to the surrounding aquifers. Relocators are typically engineers or contractors on multi-year project assignments, with strict alcohol-free conditions, employer-tied residency permits, and a thin but growing international school network. Winters get genuinely cold by Gulf standards.
