About Braga

Braga sits in northern Portugal's Minho region, roughly 50 kilometers northeast of Porto and inland from the Atlantic coast. It is one of the oldest cities on the Iberian peninsula and the religious capital of Portugal, anchored by the Archdiocese of Braga and a dense ecclesiastical heritage. The modern economy is unusually young and tech-leaning for inland Portugal, driven by the Universidade do Minho, the Bosch automotive electronics plant, and a growing software services sector. Train and motorway links put Porto within an hour. Climate is mild Atlantic with cool wet winters and warm dry summers. For relocators, Braga offers materially lower rents than Lisbon or Porto, strong public services for a Portuguese mid-size city, and a younger population than the country's coastal averages.
