About Kumba

Kumba is the commercial center of Cameroon's Southwest Region, set in the volcanic Anglophone highlands roughly 70 kilometers inland from the port of Limbe. It functions as the largest market town for cocoa, palm oil, and plantain produced across Meme Division, with traders converging on the central market from surrounding villages. English is the official working language alongside Pidgin, distinguishing the city from the Francophone majority elsewhere in the country. The climate is equatorial with heavy rainfall from May to October. Since 2017, the broader Anglophone region has experienced unrest tied to the Ambazonia crisis, which intermittently disrupts road travel and business activity. For relocators, this remains a serious consideration alongside the otherwise low cost of living and agricultural employment base.
