Why this quality rating
Sudan's public-school system is not a compelling default for expat families, especially under current conflict conditions.
Why the expat-access rating looks like this
Even where enrollment is technically possible, Arabic-medium instruction and present-day instability make the public route usually impractical for expat families.
β Homeschooling
Not specifically regulatedSudan has compulsory education laws but no specific homeschooling framework. Enforcement is limited. The ongoing political instability makes this a non-priority destination for worldschooling families.

About Medani
Medani, formally Wad Medani, is the capital of Gezira state in Sudan, sitting on the Blue Nile some 185 kilometers southeast of Khartoum with roughly 333,000 residents. It anchors the Gezira agricultural scheme, the largest irrigated farming project on the continent, and hosts the University of Gezira and a regional hospital that historically served much of central Sudan. Arabic is the working language. The climate is hot semi-arid, with summer temperatures regularly above 40 Celsius and a short, modest rainy season. The 2023 civil war fundamentally changed its standing: first an absorption point for those fleeing Khartoum, then a battleground itself, with any practical relocation context now defined by displacement, security, and reconstruction rather than ordinary urban factors.
