Why the expat-access rating looks like this
Resident families can sometimes access local schools, but the Korean-language classroom and exam culture make it a difficult fit for most expat families.

About Cheongju-si
Cheongju is the capital of North Chungcheong Province in central South Korea, a city of about 852,000 sitting in an inland basin about 110 kilometers south of Seoul. The economy mixes semiconductor manufacturing (SK Hynix's M15 fab is here) bio and pharmaceutical production, and Cheongju International Airport which serves as a secondary gateway for the central region. KTX and SRT high-speed rail puts Seoul within 40 to 60 minutes via Osong station nearby. Costs run dramatically below Seoul or Gyeonggi, with rents at a fraction of capital-region levels. Climate is humid continental with hot summers and cold winters. Korean is essentially universal, English limited outside corporate contexts. Relocators get genuine affordability with reasonable Seoul access.
