Healthcare
System strength, outcome signals, facility coverage, and self-pay visibility in South Africa.

About Soweto
Soweto is a sprawling township southwest of Johannesburg, South Africa, of about 1.7 million residents, formally part of the City of Johannesburg metropolitan municipality. It grew under apartheid as the segregated dormitory for Black workers servicing the gold-mining city and became the political center of the anti-apartheid movement; Vilakazi Street remains the only street in the world to have housed two Nobel Peace Prize winners. For relocators it is rarely a direct destination β most expats in Johannesburg settle in Sandton, Rosebank, or the northern suburbs β but Soweto increasingly attracts a domestic middle class, tourism around the apartheid heritage sites, and a strong informal economy. Crime, infrastructure load-shedding, and patchy water service remain serious daily considerations.
