Why this quality rating
Senegal has a real public-school system, but quality is uneven and the public path is still a French-medium local-integration choice rather than the obvious default for most expat families.
Why the expat-access rating looks like this
Resident families can in principle use public schools, but French-medium instruction and uneven school quality make the public route situational for relocating households.

About Tambacounda
Tambacounda is the largest town in eastern Senegal and the administrative capital of Tambacounda Region, set on the Dakar-Bamako rail and road corridor about four hundred kilometers east of Dakar. Its population of around 149,100 anchors a regional economy built on cotton, peanut, and millet farming on the Sahelian plain, livestock trade with the wider region, and as a transit hub for traffic toward Mali, Guinea, and the Niokolo-Koba National Park to the south. Wolof and French dominate alongside Pulaar and Mandinka. The Sahelian climate produces a hot dry season and a short wet season from June to October. For relocators, Tambacounda is a working Senegalese provincial capital with thin urban infrastructure and minimal expatriate presence outside development agency staff.
