About Ar Rayyān
Al Rayyan is the second-largest city in Qatar, directly west of and contiguous with Doha, and functions as the residential extension of the capital rather than an independent city. The municipality includes Education City, which hosts branch campuses of Georgetown, Carnegie Mellon, Northwestern, Cornell Medicine, Texas A and M, and HEC Paris, alongside the Qatar Foundation headquarters. Lusail Stadium and several World Cup venues sit within the municipality. Arabic is the official language but English dominates in workplaces and education, reflecting the very high share of expatriate residents across Qatar. The Doha Metro Green Line reaches Education City. The desert climate brings extreme summer heat with high humidity, often above 45 degrees, and mild winters. For relocators, Al Rayyan offers proximity to expatriate-friendly education and Doha employment.
