About Manukau City

Manukau City was formerly an independent city in the southern part of the Auckland metropolitan area in New Zealand, amalgamated into Auckland Council in 2010 and now functioning as a major suburban subdivision rather than a separate city. It contains Auckland Airport, large industrial estates around East Tamaki, and significant Pacific Island and Maori communities, particularly Samoan and Tongan, that make South Auckland one of the most diverse parts of the country. The climate is temperate maritime with mild damp winters and warm humid summers. English is universal alongside numerous Pacific languages. The area offers significantly lower housing costs than central Auckland, with the trade-off of longer motorway commutes into the central business district along the southern motorway corridor.
