About As Sālimīyah

Salmiya is a coastal district along the Arabian Gulf in Kuwait, immediately east of Kuwait City along the Gulf Road. It is one of the country's densest expatriate residential zones, with high-rise apartments, large malls including the Marina Mall, and a long seafront promenade. The economy is tied entirely to Kuwait City's oil-driven services sector, a short drive away. The climate is hot desert, with summer highs regularly above 45 degrees Celsius and almost no rainfall outside short winter showers. Arabic is the official language but English is widely used in business and retail given that expatriates make up roughly two-thirds of Kuwait's population. Housing is expensive by regional standards and residency depends on employer sponsorship under the kafala system.
