About Khuraybat as Sūq
Khuraybat as Sūq is an urban area in northern Jordan, in the Irbid Governorate near the Syrian border. It is part of the dense agricultural and small-industrial belt that spreads across the Jordanian highlands north of Amman, where the country's most productive rain-fed farmland produces olives, wheat, and vegetables. The area functions as a residential and small commerce zone within commuting reach of Irbid, the principal northern city, and the Yarmouk University corridor. Road links south to Amman take roughly 90 minutes via the Highway 35 axis. Jordan's hosting of large numbers of Syrian refugees since 2011 has shaped the regional labor market and pressured services in this part of the country. The climate is Mediterranean with cool, wet winters and dry, hot summers moderated by elevation. For NGO staff or workers tied to northern Jordanian agriculture, the area sits within Irbid's orbit.
