About ‘Ajlūn
Ajloun is a hill town in northwestern Jordan, capital of Ajloun Governorate, set in oak-and-pine highlands around 1,000 metres above sea level and roughly 75 km north of Amman. Population sits near 125,000 across the urban core and adjacent villages. Elevation moderates the climate sharply: winters are cold with regular snow, and summers stay markedly cooler than the Jordan Valley below. Local employment leans on regional administration, agriculture, and small-scale tourism linked to Ajloun Castle and the surrounding forest reserve. Arabic is universal and English is taught in school but used unevenly day-to-day. Driving to Amman takes about 90 minutes via the Jerash road; there is no passenger rail.
