About Cabinda

Cabinda is the capital of Angola's Cabinda exclave, a small territory geographically separated from the rest of Angola by a strip of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The economy is overwhelmingly dominated by offshore oil production, with Chevron, TotalEnergies, and Sonangol operating major fields nearby; the city itself is largely a logistics and support base. A long-running low-level separatist insurgency (FLEC) has periodically affected security in the surrounding province. Portuguese is essential and English present in oil-sector workplaces. Infrastructure outside the oil compounds is modest, and serious medical cases route to Luanda, Pointe-Noire, or South Africa. Realistic almost exclusively for oil-and-gas industry personnel on rotation contracts, not general relocators.
