Why this quality rating

Zambia is more English-friendly than many neighboring systems because English is the main language of formal instruction, but public-school quality still varies materially by district and resources are uneven.

Why the expat-access rating looks like this

Resident foreign families can often use public schools in principle, and English reduces the language barrier. In practice, many expat families in Lusaka still choose private or international schools for consistency.

โ“ Homeschooling

Not specifically regulated

Zambia has compulsory education laws but no specific homeschooling framework. Some families use correspondence courses. ZECHS exams are available for homeschooled students for certification. Growing community in Lusaka.

Healthcare

System strength, outcome signals, facility coverage, and self-pay visibility in Zambia.

Method: country metrics come from public system indicators, facility coverage reflects mapped providers we can inventory, direct pricing only reflects observed self-pay pages, and relative care cost can fall back to broad cost-of-living healthcare indices. Sparse pricing does not imply sparse healthcare availability.

About Chunga

Chunga is a residential and industrial area in Lusaka, Zambia, lying northwest of the city center along Great North Road. About 116,000 people live within the locally defined boundaries, in a mix of medium-density housing, light industry, and the Chunga landfill that handles much of Lusaka's solid waste. The economy depends on Lusaka's broader service, government, and commerce base, with residents commuting into the central business district by minibus along congested arterial roads. English is the official working language; Nyanja and Bemba are widely spoken. The climate is humid subtropical with a long dry season from May to October and concentrated rainfall from November to April. For relocators, the practical considerations are road congestion, the reliability of municipal water and ZESCO electricity in periods of load shedding, and dependence on private generators and boreholes.
