Healthcare

System strength, outcome signals, facility coverage, and self-pay visibility in United States.

Method: country metrics come from public system indicators, facility coverage reflects mapped providers we can inventory, direct pricing only reflects observed self-pay pages, and relative care cost can fall back to broad cost-of-living healthcare indices. Sparse pricing does not imply sparse healthcare availability.

About Buffalo, NY

Buffalo is the second-largest city in New York State, United States, with about 258,000 residents in the city proper, sitting at the eastern end of Lake Erie at the head of the Niagara River. It was a 20th-century steel and grain-handling powerhouse and has since reorganised around healthcare (the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, including Roswell Park Cancer Institute), the University at Buffalo, and a growing back-office and tech sector. Buffalo Niagara International Airport and the Peace Bridge to Canada provide regional connectivity, and a limited light-rail line runs through downtown. The climate is humid continental, with notably heavy lake-effect snow in winter. English is universal with significant Burmese, Bhutanese and Somali refugee resettlement populations, and housing costs sit among the lowest of any major US northeastern city.
