Why this quality rating
Turkey's public schools can work for local families, but expat fit is weaker and the public path is not usually the obvious choice when alternatives exist.
Why the expat-access rating looks like this
Resident enrollment is possible, but Turkish-medium instruction and uneven school quality make the public route hard for most foreign families.
🚫 Homeschooling
Homeschooling not legalTurkey requires compulsory school attendance. Homeschooling is not permitted under current law. Foreign residents are technically subject to the same rules, though enforcement varies for non-citizens.

About Cizre
Cizre sits in Sirnak Province in southeastern Turkey, on the Tigris River near the borders with Syria and Iraq. The city is historically significant as a centre of Kurdish culture and has been the focus of recurring political and security tensions over decades. The local economy combines border trade, agriculture in the river plain, and small-scale services. For relocators, Cizre is firmly a domestic Turkish city, with Turkish as the official working language and Kurdish widely spoken among the predominantly Kurdish population. The climate is hot semi-arid with very hot summers and cold winters. The security and political context in the broader southeast Turkey region has been periodically severe, particularly during the 2015-2016 urban conflicts. Road links connect the city to Diyarbakir and to the Iraqi border at Habur.
