About Bağcılar
Bağcılar is a densely populated district on the European side of Istanbul, Turkey, sitting roughly 15 kilometers west of the historical core with about 749,000 residents. It developed rapidly from the 1980s as internal migrants from Anatolia settled on what was then the city's periphery, and remains one of Istanbul's most working-class and conservative districts. Relocators get the cheapest housing within reasonable commute of central Istanbul, M1 metro and Marmaray connections, and an authentic Anatolian-Istanbul cultural environment. Trade-offs include extreme density, limited green space, traffic congestion, and exposure to the city's earthquake risk in older mid-rise stock. Turkish is essential.
