Why this quality rating
Turkey's public schools can work for local families, but expat fit is weaker and the public path is not usually the obvious choice when alternatives exist.
Why the expat-access rating looks like this
Resident enrollment is possible, but Turkish-medium instruction and uneven school quality make the public route hard for most foreign families.
🚫 Homeschooling
Homeschooling not legalTurkey requires compulsory school attendance. Homeschooling is not permitted under current law. Foreign residents are technically subject to the same rules, though enforcement varies for non-citizens.

About Aydın
Aydın is the capital of Aydın Province in southwestern Turkey, in the inland fertile valley of the Büyük Menderes River about 70 kilometers east of İzmir. With roughly 165,000 residents in the central municipality, it serves as the agricultural and administrative hub of one of Turkey's most productive farming regions, known particularly for figs, olives, olive oil, and cotton. The economy combines this agro-industrial base with services, the university (Aydın Adnan Menderes), and growing logistics activity tied to İzmir's port. Turkish is the working language. The climate is hot-summer Mediterranean with mild winters, and the region is seismically active, sitting on the Western Anatolian fault network. For relocation, Aydın offers a markedly lower cost of living than coastal Aegean cities like Kuşadası or İzmir while remaining within a short drive of both.
