About Sokodé

Sokode is the second-largest city in Togo and the administrative seat of the Centrale Region, sitting roughly 340 kilometres north of the capital Lome along the N1 highway that spans the country. It is a predominantly Muslim Kotokoli town in an otherwise religiously mixed nation and functions as the main trading hub between the coast and the Sahelian north. The local economy turns on cotton ginning, transport, and a weekly regional market. French is the official language; Tem and Hausa are spoken on the street. The climate is tropical savanna with a long dry harmattan season from November to February. Power outages, limited fibre, and no international flights make it a difficult fit for digital-nomad relocation.
