About Carolina

Carolina is a municipality of roughly 170,000 residents in northeastern Puerto Rico, immediately east of San Juan and home to Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport. It is effectively part of the San Juan metropolitan area, with continuous urban development bridging the two municipalities and a heavy concentration of hotels, airport-adjacent logistics, and the Plaza Carolina shopping complex. Spanish dominates daily life, with English widely used in tourism and aviation employment. As a US territory, Carolina uses the US dollar and operates under federal labor and immigration rules, which simplifies relocation for US citizens compared to Latin American alternatives. Tropical maritime climate brings warm temperatures year-round and an Atlantic hurricane exposure documented most recently in 2017. The relocation hook is straightforward: Caribbean climate inside the US regulatory perimeter.
