About Queluz
Queluz is a parish and former municipality in the Sintra Municipality of Greater Lisbon, Portugal, with about 103,399 residents in this urban subdivision. It sits on the western edge of the Lisbon metropolitan area, about 10 kilometers northwest of central Lisbon, and is internationally known for the 18th-century Queluz National Palace, a Portuguese Baroque-Rococo royal residence sometimes compared with Versailles. The local economy is overwhelmingly Lisbon-commuter, with the CP suburban rail Sintra Line and the IC19 highway providing access to the capital. Portuguese is universal with growing English fluency given the broader Lisbon-area expat inflow of the past decade. Climate is Mediterranean with mild wet winters and warm dry summers. Housing is cheaper than central Lisbon but has risen materially since the late 2010s with the broader metro-area pricing pressure.
