About Chikushino-shi
Chikushino is a city in Fukuoka Prefecture, on the northern coast of Kyushu in southwestern Japan, with about 103,311 residents. It sits in the Chikushi plain about 20 kilometers south of central Fukuoka and functions as a residential commuter community within the broader Fukuoka metropolitan area, with the JR Kagoshima Main Line and Nishitetsu Tenjin Ōmuta Line providing access to central Fukuoka in about 25 minutes. The local economy combines Fukuoka-commuter services, light manufacturing, and small-scale agriculture. Japanese is the working language with growing Korean and Chinese-speaker presence given Fukuoka's proximity to the Korean peninsula and East China sea trade.
