About Masina
Masina is a commune of about 485,000 in the eastern part of Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, sitting along the road corridor leading toward N'djili airport. It is one of the densest working-class districts in the Congolese capital, with an economy dominated by small-scale informal commerce, transport services tied to airport flows, and light manufacturing. Infrastructure quality runs sharply below the central Gombe district, with chronic flooding during the rainy season, intermittent electricity, and limited piped water. The climate is hot tropical with two wet seasons and a brief cool dry shoulder. Relocators are essentially absent outside specific humanitarian or church postings; security situations vary, French and Lingala dominate daily life with English usage minimal, and the practical international healthcare and travel infrastructure concentrate in central Kinshasa.
