About Koudougou

Koudougou is the third-largest city in Burkina Faso, located on the central plateau roughly 100 kilometers west of the capital Ouagadougou. It is the historic seat of the Mossi-related Lyele people and a regional center for cotton ginning, textile production, and trade along the rail and highway corridor to Bobo-Dioulasso and the Ivorian port of Abidjan. The University of Koudougou anchors a small student population. The climate is hot semi-arid Sahelian, with a short rainy season from June to September and intense dry-season harmattan winds. For relocation, Koudougou is realistic mainly for NGO, mission, and development-sector staff; broader expat moves are constrained by the country's ongoing security situation and travel advisories.
