📋 Homeschooling

Legal with MOE approval

Bahrain allows homeschooling with approval from the Ministry of Education. Parents must demonstrate educational capability and follow an approved curriculum. Annual assessments are required. The relatively liberal climate makes approval more accessible than in some Gulf states.

About Ar Rifā‘

Ar Rifa is the second-largest urban area in Bahrain, set in the geographic center of the main island about 15 kilometers south of Manama. The roughly 116,000 residents are split between the historically Sunni-dominated West Rifa, which hosts the royal court and Sakhir desert palaces, and the more mixed East Rifa with denser commercial development. Arabic is the official language and English is widely used in business and government. The local economy depends on the Bahrain Defence Force headquarters, government employment, and proximity to the Sakhir motorsport circuit, with most private-sector jobs concentrated in Manama or the financial harbor. The climate is hot desert with extreme summer heat exceeding 40 degrees Celsius and mild winters. For relocators, the practical considerations are Bahrain's residency-by-property and employer-sponsored visa routes, the short causeway connection to Saudi Arabia, and Manama commute times.
