About Sochi, Krasnodar Krai
Sochi is a city on Russia's Black Sea coast, stretching for more than 100 kilometers along the foothills of the western Caucasus with about 328,000 residents in the central urban core. Its economy is anchored by domestic tourism, the post-2014 Olympic and Krasnaya Polyana ski infrastructure, Formula 1 (until cancellation), and federal investment that has made it Russia's principal warm-water resort city. Russian is the working language. The climate is humid subtropical, the only such zone in Russia, with mild wet winters and hot humid summers. Relocation is overwhelmingly domestic and has accelerated since 2022 as Russians seek a warmer climate and lifestyle alternative; foreign relocation is minimal under current sanctions and political conditions.
