About Ngerulmud

Ngerulmud is the capital of Palau, an island country in the western Pacific, with a nominal population near zero as it functions as a purpose-built government complex on the eastern coast of Babeldaob island rather than a true city, having replaced Koror as capital in 2006. Government activity, the national legislature, and the executive offices are concentrated in the complex, while most residents and commercial activity remain in the larger urban area of Koror to the south. Palauan and English are both official languages, with English used in government and tourism. The climate is tropical with consistent warm temperatures and high humidity. Palauan citizens have specific rights under the US Compact of Free Association. Ngerulmud is not a practical destination for relocators; activity is limited to government employment.
