About Nuuk

Nuuk is the capital of Greenland, an autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark, with about 15,000 residents on the southwestern coast at the mouth of the Nuup Kangerlua fjord. The local economy combines Danish-funded public administration, fisheries that dominate exports, services, education with the University of Greenland, and a growing role in Arctic geopolitical and mineral interest. Greenlandic and Danish are both official languages, with Greenlandic the everyday language of most residents and Danish standard in administration; English use is functional among younger residents. The climate is subarctic moderated by the coastal setting, with cold snowy winters and cool summers. Nuuk Airport is expanding to receive direct international flights. Nuuk suits relocators with Danish public sector, research, or Arctic-sector employment.
