About Bergedorf
Bergedorf is the southeasternmost borough of Hamburg, Germany, with around 120,000 residents on the edge of the Vier- und Marschlande wetlands along the Elbe. Once a separate town and the only Hanseatic city ever jointly governed by Hamburg and Lübeck, it retains a distinct historic core around Bergedorf Castle, the only castle in Hamburg. S-Bahn line S21 reaches Hamburg Hauptbahnhof in about 20 minutes, and the area combines Wilhelminian housing in the center with new build along the Bille River and substantial market gardening to the south. Climate is oceanic with mild damp winters and cool summers. The Hamburg labor market and English-friendly international scene are fully accessible, and rents run noticeably below Eppendorf or Eimsbüttel.
