About Manzini

Manzini is the largest city and commercial capital of Eswatini, sitting in the Middleveld at around 700 meters elevation about 35 kilometers east of the political capital Mbabane. The roughly 112,000 residents live in the country's principal commercial and manufacturing hub, with the local economy combining the surrounding Matsapha Industrial Estate (textiles, garments, and food processing), the central produce market, and University of Eswatini's main campus at Kwaluseni nearby. The setting on the Middleveld gives a milder climate than the Lowveld with warm summers and cool winters. English and Siswati are both official and widely used in business and government. King Mswati III International Airport at Sikhuphe provides the country's main international gateway, about 90 minutes east, with limited service primarily through Johannesburg.

Subtropical highland climate (15-25Β°C), pleasant dry season April-OctoberInternet adequate for email/browsing (5-15 Mbps) but unreliable for video/streamingVery small expat community, no digital nomad hubsModerately walkable city center, public minibuses unreliable, car needed for practicalityLimited dining sceneβ€”mostly local cuisine, few international options, premium imported food pricesMinimal nightlife, quiet bars/lounges catering to locals, entertainment mainly outdoor activitiesNo dedicated coworking spaces, most work from accommodation or hotel business centersGenerally safe but petty theft and opportunistic crime in urban areas, avoid valuables and nighttime unfamiliar areas
