About Montería
Montería is the capital of Córdoba department in northern Colombia, an inland city of about 491,000 sitting on the Sinú River in the agricultural lowlands roughly 65 kilometers inland from the Caribbean coast. The local economy rests heavily on cattle ranching, which makes Córdoba one of the country's main beef-producing regions, alongside dairy, agricultural trade, and a growing services sector tied to its role as a regional administrative hub. The climate is hot tropical with a long wet season May through October and a drier shoulder. Relocators are uncommon outside specific agribusiness or development postings; the city has a modest airport with mainly Bogotá connections, English-language daily infrastructure is thin, and Spanish is essentially required. The Sinú embankment renovation has improved the central public-space quality materially over the past decade.
