About Arezzo
Arezzo is a city in eastern Tuscany in central Italy, on a hill above the Arno valley about 80 kilometres southeast of Florence. It is the capital of the Province of Arezzo and historically one of the most important Etruscan cities, with a medieval old town preserved around the sloping Piazza Grande that hosts the twice-yearly Saracen Joust. The local economy is built on gold and jewellery manufacturing, with the Arezzo district producing a substantial share of Italy's gold output, alongside fashion, leather, and traditional Tuscan agriculture in the surrounding hills. Direct Frecciarossa trains reach Florence in about 35 minutes and Rome in roughly two hours, putting Arezzo within an easy commute of either metropolitan area. Italian is the working language. The climate is Mediterranean. Housing costs sit well below Florence.
