About Nassau

Nassau is the capital and largest city of the Bahamas, set on New Providence Island in the western Atlantic roughly 320 kilometers southeast of Miami, Florida. The city's economy is anchored by financial services, with a long-established offshore banking and corporate-services sector, and by tourism, including cruise traffic to Prince George Wharf and the large Atlantis and Baha Mar resort complexes on Paradise Island and Cable Beach. Climate is tropical with hot wet summers, mild dry winters, and an Atlantic hurricane season from June through November. English is the working language, with Bahamian Creole spoken informally. International access is via Lynden Pindling International Airport with direct connections to numerous US, Canadian, and European hubs. The Bahamian dollar trades one-to-one with the US dollar, which circulates freely alongside it.
